Over the past year — especially in the second half of 2022 — we went through an intense transformation within our 13.6 freight forwarding department, successfully launching a new and efficient branch of our business under the brand NORDA LOGISTICS.
Along with the decision to expand the 13.6 forwarding division, we began a recruitment campaign in mid-year aimed at heavy transport carriers. We’re proud to report great results — in just the second half of the year, 30 new carriers joined us, with a total number of over 50 trucks in our fleet. These results stem, on one hand, from a strong offer that the market had been lacking. On the other hand, from thorough preparation and restructuring of our internal systems to support a completely new type of subcontractor, one that comes with its specific requirements.
In addition to organizational changes, we also implemented technological solutions that enabled such rapid growth in this segment. One of these is the CMR system, which provides essential oversight of transport execution and enables efficient calculation of profits generated by our subcontractor fleet. Another notable innovation is a dedicated app for planning optimal vehicle routes, because larger trucks can’t always go where vans can squeeze through.
As a result, we reached full capacity with large vehicles as originally planned at the start of the campaign, and we are continuing to expand our presence in this market.
But what does “going big” really mean?
In the NORDA LOGISTICS, we focus on transport planning that involves moving goods from their point of origin to their destination. The difference lies in the weight and volume of goods transported — we handle significantly heavier and larger shipments than in our van operations, which brings additional challenges, such as limited route accessibility for large vehicles.
Our clients include various manufacturing plants, from which we transport goods to their end destinations. Our team has the comprehensive expertise required to carry out these assignments safely and efficiently. The experience gained over the years in light transport at MAKO TSL is now fueling the rapid growth of our heavy transport division.
