In October 2024, the MAKO TSL team began their journey in the Tricity Football League (PL3). The first round was played on grass fields, while the second took place indoors. After these two rounds, we have achieved our first success – a silver medal in the indoor league!
A Tough Start
There’s no denying that our beginnings were challenging. The intensity and level of competition in our league took us by surprise. Due to a lack of preparation and team chemistry, we lost several matches. However, what stood out was our commitment and determination to improve. We learned valuable lessons and finished the autumn round in 9th place, securing four victories along the way.
The winter round surprised us again, this time with its format – futsal. It’s still football with a round ball and two goals, but played under entirely different rules. Once again, we struggled, and organizers didn’t expect much from us. For the first few rounds, we were seen as a mid-table team at best. However, we were in a completely different place than in autumn – and we knew how to respond.
We were placed in the PL3 Third League, where we could finally showcase our potential. With each game, we played with more confidence and enjoyment. Everyone gave 200% effort, often gasping for breath after matches. The resilience that emerged in us brought a sense of calm and structure to our game – we started playing the way we wanted! On January 8th, in the first round, we faced the team that would eventually become the Third League champions. We put up a tough fight, only losing in the final minutes. From that moment on… we didn’t lose a single game!
MAKO TSL Keeps Winning!
We won the next seven matches, with one draw along the way, securing a solid second-place finish in the standings. In the most crucial match of the season – the battle for silver – we were highly motivated and confidently secured a decisive 6-2 victory, ensuring a safe lead that we maintained until the end.
From being seen as a mid-table team, we quickly became one expected to win and compete for the gold medal. We didn’t buckle under pressure and continued enjoying the game.
A Bright Future
On March 17, we return to the grass fields for the next season. The weather seems to be on our side, making outdoor matches even more exciting. We have high expectations, eager to leave our disappointing autumn campaign behind. Instead, we set a bold goal: promotion.
Despite the long-standing football tradition at MAKO TSL, we are a new team in the league, which placed us at the lowest tier of the competition. Naturally, we aim to change that, and we hope this season will give us the opportunity. We have gained valuable experience and tasted the thrill of earning medals – now it’s time for promotion to the Second League!
